Hello again!
I've been wanting to write about this for a while. One of the questions we get asked most often is:
"Why does my Seamful order take around ten business days?"
It's a fair question.
After all, we've become so used to placing an order today and expecting it to arrive tomorrow. Waiting almost feels... unusual.
Brands estimate what customers might like months in advance, manufacture hundreds—or sometimes thousands—of pieces, and wait for them to sell. Some do. Many don't.
When I first started building Seamful, I knew I wanted to do things differently and step away from this cycle. Not because made-to-order is perfect. Not because it's the easiest way to run a business. Simply because it felt more honest.
Every order begins with a person.
You choose a piece. And that’s when our work begins.
Fabric is laid out.
Patterns are marked.
The first cut is made.
Stitch by stitch, your garment slowly comes to life.
A few days earlier, it didn't exist at all. Now, it's slowly becoming yours. I love that thought. It reminds me that clothing doesn't have to be rushed to be meaningful. We ask that you allow around 10 business days for us to craft and deliver your garment thoughtfully. To us, those extra days aren't a delay; they’re the reason we can slow down enough to notice the details.
I'll be honest. Sometimes I wonder whether asking people to wait is asking too much. Then I walk through the studio. I see garments slowly taking shape. I see hands carefully working through every stitch. And I'm reminded exactly why we chose this path.
We're not trying to make clothing faster. We're trying to make it more thoughtful. It's a reminder that not everything worthwhile needs to happen instantly, some things deserve a little patience.
When you choose a made-to-order piece, you're choosing something that was created because you chose it.
And we hope, when your Seamful piece finally reaches your doorstep, you'll feel that too. Maybe you'll notice it in the finishing. Maybe you'll notice it in the fit. Or maybe you'll simply notice that it feels different, because you know your garment already has a story.
Because while fashion can be fast, craftsmanship has always moved at its own pace.
And we're perfectly happy keeping it that way.
Thank you for waiting.
It means you're choosing to value craftsmanship over convenience, intention over impulse, and quality over quantity.
Until next time,
Yours Truly,
Shreya
